Cajun Honey Butter Salmon
Hey everyone! If you're looking for a quick, mouth-watering dinner that looks fancy but requires barely any effort, you have to try making this. It hits that perfect balance of sweet from the honey, rich and savory from the butter, and a nice little kick of heat from the Cajun seasoning.
Whenever I make this, the kitchen smells amazing, and that sticky, caramelized glaze on top of the flaky fish is just out of this world. It’s perfect for a busy weeknight but impressive enough for a date night. Let's get cooking!
What You'll Need
2 to 4 Salmon fillets: Skin-on or skinless, whatever you prefer.
2 tbsp Cajun seasoning: Use your favorite brand, but keep an eye on the sodium level!
1 tbsp Olive oil: Just to get the pan going.
3 tbsp Unsalted butter: The base of our amazing sauce.
3 tbsp Honey: To balance out the spicy Cajun kick.
3 cloves Garlic: Freshly minced is best.
Fresh parsley: Finely chopped, for that pop of green garnish at the end.
Lime or lemon wedges: A squeeze of citrus cuts right through the richness.
Salt and pepper: To taste.
Let's Make It!
Prep the Fish: First things first, pat your salmon fillets completely dry with a paper towel. This is the secret to getting a really nice sear! Once dry, season the fillets generously on all sides with the Cajun seasoning (and a little salt/pepper if your seasoning is salt-free).
Get a Good Sear: Heat your olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot and shimmering, gently place the salmon in the pan, flesh side down. Let it cook untouched for about 4-5 minutes until it develops a beautiful, slightly blackened crust. Flip the fillets over.
Create the Sauce: Lower the heat to medium. Drop your butter right into the skillet around the salmon. As soon as it melts and gets bubbly, add your minced garlic and let it cook for about 30 seconds until it smells incredible. Stir in the honey.
Baste, Baste, Baste! Let the honey and butter bubble together to form a glaze. Grab a spoon and continuously scoop that glorious sauce over the top of the salmon fillets while they finish cooking. Do this for about 3-4 minutes, or until the salmon flakes easily with a fork.
Garnish and Serve: Transfer the salmon to your plates. Drizzle any of that extra sticky pan sauce right over the top. Hit it with a squeeze of fresh lime juice and a sprinkle of chopped parsley.
Serving Suggestion: Serve it up with some oven-roasted asparagus and blistered cherry tomatoes to complete the meal!
